Dr LeBeau is a double board certified and fellowship trained facial plastic surgeon who has taken a special interest in children with congenitally malformed ears (microtia) or excessively prominent ears (prominotia). Prominent ears can be the result of many variations or abnormalities of the cartilage structure of the ear resulting in the ears protruding abnormally far from the side of the head. Dr LeBeau has published articles teaching other surgeons how to provide great results based on his extensive experience performing these procedures.
The repair of excessively protruding ears may often be covered by insurance within the first 5-10 years of life secondary to the psychosocial aspects children typically encounter during these school age years.
The procedure is performed as an outpatient and typically takes one hour per ear to perform. There is very little post operative discomfort for the child and the results may be seen as soon as the next day.
